Mrs Lovett
Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other!

Go for it. I'm rubbish at blogging these days but I'm happy to be prompted...

Mr Jones Mr Jones!!

Mrs Lovett

This is a weird reason to suddenly return to LJ but I just had to post about how excited I am about the new Indiana Jones film! I just went to watch the trailer and the music gave me goosebumps!

The trailer lives at www.indianajones.com (obviously) and you can buy an Indiana Jones fedora from the Indiana Jones shop for $99. I so want one. Not to wear or anything. Just the simple fact of owning one would make me happy.

Ford is looking a bit old though... not quite as handsome as he once was. :-( But he can still swing on a whip and that's good enough for me!

I've been reading a wee bit of discussion from fans who seem to think the film might have something to do with aliens and Roswell... ooooooh...

Also, while I'm on the subject of films I need to squee a little over the forthcoming X-Files film. It's happening!!! I'm very pleased.

And I'm currently obsessed with Sweeney Todd. Really obsessed.

Vote for me!!

  • Nov. 7th, 2007 at 8:38 PM

Firstly, apologies for my absence of late - have been having a bit of housing crisis of late but I'll be back online soon. In the meantime I just wanted to do a shameless plug.

A while ago I entered the 'Wannabe Wicked' competition to win, amongst other things, a walk-on part in Wicked. I just found out this evening that I'm one of 80 people that have been picked for the first round of public voting in two knockout contests.

So, I need everyone to vote for me please!! Even getting through to the second round would be amazing as you get a VIP trip to London to meet the cast and audition in front of the creative team!!

The bad news is that you have to be on the Orange mobile network to watch and vote. But if you *are* on Orange or know anyone that is, you can vote in the following way...

-----------------------------------------

(I'm stealing this from the site cos I'm too lazy to write it myself.)

You need an Orange phone to watch and vote in the Wannabe WICKED contest. Don’t have an Orange SIM? Get one for free here.

Step 1: Text 'wicked' to 7469. Texts are free. You will receive a text message reply containing a link that will take you directly to Wannabe WICKED on your phone. Alternatively find it in the TV and Video section on Orange World.

Step 2: Watch head-to-head contests in Witch Sing-Off and Wizard Sing-Off.

Step 3: Choose your favourite in each pairing and click on the 'Vote for' link for the person you want to vote for. You can only vote once on each pairing, but you can vote again in each new round.

The contestant in each pair with the most votes will go through to the next knockout round until there are only four finalists (two witches and two wizards) remaining.

Tip: Videos can be expensive to download so make sure you buy a £1 bundle for unlimited browsing: PAYG customers text 'world' to 6610; PAYM customers can go to the 'My account' section on Orange World to buy one.

-----------------------------------------

And if you need any more info go here. Oh and see if you can spot the silly picture of me singing. Some funny face pulling going on there...

So yeah... vote now! I need something good to happen after the month I've just had!!  :-)

PS. I think I'm Contestant Number 7...

Pity the fool......

  • Jun. 23rd, 2007 at 9:22 PM

So, I did end up seeing Sylv in King Lear. I didn't go out of my way to get tickets because I'm not a fan of Shakespeare (and seeing this only confirmed my dislike) but a friend asked me if I wanted to go so I said yes. And at £5 a ticket (because I'm under 25 yessum!) what reason did I have to refuse!?

Anyway, the play was long. 3 hours and 40 minutes too long. But it was worth it just to see Sylv on stage again. He was playing the fool to Ian McKellen's King Lear and was just cute. What can I say? He was all-singing, all-dancing, all-spoon playing... just delightful to watch. Just a shame he got HUNG at the end of the first act. Gutted. Nothing to really look forward to after that is there?!

And I really didn't need to see Sir Ian waving his 'friend downstairs' around.

But Sylv rocked. End of.

Beautiful Fenric

  • Jun. 12th, 2007 at 11:41 PM

Okay, so I had this picture of me taken today during performances of 'Beautiful Soup' in which I was playing Squirrel and it suddenly struck me that I look very Ace a la Fenric. I was wearing a beret rather than a hairnet but still...

I'm an "Aunty"!!

  • May. 24th, 2007 at 9:16 PM

Or as close to being an Aunty as I'm ever going to get. Unless a miracle happens and my mum and dad provide me with a new sibling. Eww... But that's not gonna happen cos that's just physically impossible!!

One of my best friends from school had her baby yesterday - it's a boy weighing something over 8lbs and they've named him James, Jamie for short. (That means trouble y'know...!)

I'm really happy for her! She's always been the broody maternal type, as opposed to my cold hearted selfishness. *snort* But I think she was made to be a mother and this will make her very happy. Yay!

I should really have posted before now... I had lots to say, I think I just go through phases of being a lazy blogger. But thinking about it, I would probably have just moaned about how stressful work has been and how depressed I've been feeling. I didn't write about my London adventure though which is a badness cos it was wicked - celebrated Juliet's birthday by going to see Billy Elliot which scores mega points for the being the only musical to have emotionally traumatised me. Seriously, it was amazing but I cried at least once during the first act and couldn't stop sobbing through the second!!  Have also been to see both sets of parents over the last few weeks which has been nice. And Musical Theatre is much fun at the moment with the little ones doing Disney songs (Em and I get to play Zazu! Hurrah!) and us lot doing Hairspray, which I'm totally loving. I've been given Penny's solo parts in Mama I'm A Big Girl Now, so I'm well chuffed. The dancing is a chore for me but I'm getting there...!! My wig has remained untouched for about a fortnight... I really have to be in the mood to work on it as that too is a chore but I'm thinking the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend will be the perfect opportunity. But we'll see...

So that's a very brief run down of my news... It'll probably be the last you hear from me for the next few weeks but I'll still be perusing everyones blogs as usual.

What is this feeling?

  • May. 12th, 2007 at 8:15 PM

Oh and I should also post this because it made me laugh. A lot. My friend's had it on his MySpace for ages and kept telling me to watch it - glad I did!

  • May. 12th, 2007 at 8:10 PM

I was planning on writing a blog. But I got distracted by MySpace. Then Facebook. Then X Files bloopers on YouTube. So I'm here to post those instead cos they've just made my day!

  • Apr. 16th, 2007 at 1:44 PM

I feel really depressed. My back is hurting (albeit not quite as much as the last few days but it's annoyingly twingy), I have bad hayfever and I'm bored. I don't want to work. I just want to curl up in front of the TV and sleep.

*whimper*

  • Apr. 14th, 2007 at 2:23 PM

I've done something to my back... I went to brush my teeth this morning and something just went and I was suddenly in pain! And it's not going away... I think it's mostly in my shoulder but I'm finding it really difficult to move without getting a stabbing pain. I'll have to get The Other Half to give me a massage when he gets home from work cos the Ibruprofen isn't working.

Maybe someone's practicing some voodoo on me... probably the same person who left a stinky anonymous note on our old car. It's been sitting out the front of our house for 3 weeks because the people who were supposed to come and collect it are crap, but it finally got picked up yesterday morning. We had to park the new car in our proper space round the back but of course, we wanted the old car to be safe until it was collected so we parked it out front so we could keep an eye on it. Then yesterday morning, when the car was finally due to be picked up, The Other Half found the following note on the window...

"I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the contract of purchase (Clause 7.1) states not to park your car on the road. Please park your vehicle on your driveway, on your designated parking space or in your garage, as the roads are narrow without cars parked on them."

I actually agree for the most part and as a pedestrian I get sick of having to walk into the road to avoid cars that are parked on the pavement. But. If the anonymous writer of that note had actually bothered to come round and speak to us face-to-face, we would have told them that it wasn't permenant and we were just waiting for it to be picked up. And I would also have pointed out all of the other cars parked along this road in ridiculous places that make it impossible to turn into our own driveway. Oh and I have no idea what Clause they're referring to... if it's something to do with purchase of the house then they've got it wrong cos we're only renting.

What really grates on me, is the fact they didn't bother to sign the note so we can't resolve the issue. I'm left feeling really annoyed because someone hasn't got the guts to come and speak to us in person. It's childish and cowardly. After all, I'm a pretty reasonable person and certainly don't bite. [Unless you push the right buttons.]

It irked me to the point of wanting to find out who it was from and giving them a piece of my mind. It would be so easy to photocopy the note with a few choice words of my own and distribute it round the neighbourhood to make the cuplrit feel like an absolute twat. But I'm better than that.

Would be fun though.

Why is it, wherever we go, we get at least one set of self-righteous snotty neighbours who enjoy snitching on us to our landlord or leaving anonymous notes about silly things that really don't matter in the grand scheme of things?? What have we ever done that's really that bad? We're quiet, we keep ourselves to ourselves and don't ever bother them. They obviously have far too much time on their hands. And it just goes to show that homeowners are snobs towards their renting neighbours...

OMG. I just remembered an episode of X Files... where residents would kill new neighbours if they didn't conform to their rules... maybe someone IS practicing voodoo on me...

Bastards.

Um anyway. Rant over.

LJ Overdose

  • Mar. 31st, 2007 at 9:47 PM

*chuckle* Who would've predicted that I would use this thing as much as I have in the space of a week?? I suppose it's because no one I know personally is going to read it. Fingers crossed... I have the habit of being found.

So, the outcome of the missing money mystery? The Other Half took it without telling me. It had been discussed but he hadn't actually told me he had taken it out [of MY account] and didn't get a receipt. So I was oblivious until today. And I gave him what for when he came home. He apologised and gave me money back. Not entirely convinced he can afford to do this (knowing what he's like with money), but I've hidden it in a safe place and will keep it for grocery shopping. All done and dusted now but I've wasted my afternoon giving him the silent treatment. *pfft* Bloody sily men. When will they learn?

Still haven't made a start on my wig. Will probably have to wait til tomorrow now. *rollseyes*

I am so mad right now...

  • Mar. 31st, 2007 at 2:23 PM

Why is it, when you think everything is ticking along nicely, a pile of crap suddenly drops in your lap?

Crap #1: My lovely new wig is in the country but I have to pay Parcel Force customs and excise fees. £20! It's not really that much but when you see what Crap #2 is you'll understand why I'm a little bit cheesed off. What's worse is that I completely forgot about these charges, having not bought anything from overseas since before 9/11. (That's what the charges are for, right? So they can look at your package and check there's nothing explosive in there?) Bugger.

Crap #2: Got my bank statement this morning and I knew straight away that something wasn't right. Now, I've been living off my overdraft for the last few months so I have been meticulous with my accounting, keep every receipt and log all my spending. So when I see that £200 cash has been withdrawn, I know that it's nothing to do with me because it's going to take me beyond my overdraft which means I'll get a nice whopper of a charge for the privilage.

Now, the mystery is - who stole the money? It is a possibility that my other half (who I often give my card to so he can get petrol etc) is the culprit and just hasn't told me that he's taken the money out. In which case I'm going to be furious with him and demand he sells his X Box or one of his precious guitar things to pay me back, including the amount I'm going to get charged for going over my allowance.

But if my card has been cloned and the money stolen by some big fat cretin, then all I can do is report it to the bank. And cry. But at least I stand a chance of getting it back.

You know the sad thing though? I have a feeling it isn't the latter possibility. Because I hardly ever use cashpoints for that precise reason... and I can only think of one exception this month and that was after the money had been withdrawn.

Oh. Buggerfuckbollocks.

Get a life

  • Mar. 30th, 2007 at 10:50 PM

Y'know something? I am feeling really quite discouraged from posting on the Timewarp forums. I do check it often, just to keep track of what's going on in the world of Rocky but for quite a while now I've felt very frustrated with the type of people that post there.

It's not necessarily limited to the Timewarp forums (as it does also happen on the other forums I also frequent) but the one place where I would expect to feel comfortable posting an opinion, I just don't. Anyone who disagrees with the self-righteous cronies, is put in their place with a 100 word essay and I'm just not up for that. I don't want to argue with people. It would be nice if differences of opinion could be accepted for what they are and for people not to parade the forums with the attitude of "What I think is right and everyone else is wrong".

It makes me cross. Don't get me wrong, I'm not losing any sleep over it but I'm sad that I feel this way because the Rocky community used to be so accepting. Now it just feels like said cronies have too much time on their hands and have become the exact opposite of what Rocky is all about.

Just because I don't spend ridiculous amounts of money to see the show 7 days a week, doesn't mean I'm any less entitled to an opinion.

So. I just wanted to say - get a life.

Big Amusement of The Day

  • Mar. 27th, 2007 at 9:05 PM

I was on my way to Great Malvern today to do a show and we passed a sign for North Piddle. I found this exceedingly funny. So when I got home I thought I'd look it up - didn't find anything interesting about the place but I did get a page with funny and rude town names...

http://www.philbrodieband.com/jokes-jokes_town_names.htm

Enjoy!

I saw something that made me really angry today.

We were in a pet store queueing up to buy some sawdust and there was a family in front of us with a gorgeous chocolate lab puppy. The mother was pre-occupied paying for a dog bed and chatting to the sales assistant, while the older son had the dog on the leash. The puppy was sitting good as gold on the floor and the younger child that was with them just starting standing on the puppy's foot!! He kept doing it, putting more and more pressure on until the puppy yelped. His older (more sensible) brother said "You were standing on his foot on purpose weren't you? Say sorry to the puppy!!". I stood there glaring at the spiteful little child, wanting to stamp on his stupid foot. What a horrible creature!

I was surprised at how sad and upset it made me feel though and that, had he been doing it to another child, I wouldn't have felt quite so angry. Is that wrong?! Anyway, thank goodness the older child seemed sensible enough to look after a puppy.

Grr.

We won!

  • Mar. 25th, 2007 at 2:56 PM
Beret
That's right, we won the car! Via slightly sneaky methods (aka Auction Snipe) but we got it for a good price, even after bidding against two car dealers. Ha! In your face car dealers. It looks nice... and the registration ends with 'BLT'. Thought that was rather apt considering my penchant for BLTs. Going out for a trip to the supermarket in a bit so I get to find out what it's like inside (have been to lazy to actually leave the house!).

Nothing much else to report... although I did manage to finish my second leg warmer last night and they look pretty spiffy. Will get pictures up soonish.

Ta-ra for now!

*EDIT*

My finished Tantomile warmers...

Starting Afresh

  • Mar. 23rd, 2007 at 11:20 PM

I moved - fancied starting afresh. So if I've added you as a friend, it means I've already had some sort of online communication with you. Just to avoid any confusion! To be honest, I don't really need another blog/journal/profile, so I probably won't update very frequently but I thought it would be the best way to keep up with my favourite bloggers etc! I do often cross-post between Xanga and MySpace, so I may well extend my posts to LJ as well... My updates tend to be few and far between though. I can't believe I used to post every day... I just can't find anything of interest to write about anymore! Says a lot about my life doesn't it?! Or maybe it's a bad habit I've slipped into. It would be nice to write more often. I guess I'm just lazy!

Anyway.

Ben is bidding for a new car on eBay and the auction finishes tomorrow. It would be really great if he won because our current heap of junk probably won't last much longer without repairs that would cost about the same amount as buying a new one. It's a 'Calypso Red' BMW... from 1990. It's old but still in good shape - Ben's been to see it and seems pretty keen. The Mondeo hasn't done badly though - we bought it from one of my work colleagues for £50 about a year and a half ago, and it's done an impressive 40,000 miles since then. Fingers crossed for tomorrow...

I'm so glad I'm finished for the weekend. I have been dreading this week but it's actually passed by quite uneventfully. A friend and I were in charge of organising a small presentation for a corporate event on Wednesday and for some reason I got myself really worked up about it. It's not really like me to get so worried but it all went well in the end and everyone seemed very pleased. It's amazing what you can do with a couple of hours rehearsal and some old pro's! I've also nearly finished the programme for the next show, so I'm hoping to sign that off early next week. Didn't take me nearly as long as I'd expected. After that I just have a couple of oustanding print jobs to get sorted (letterheads/comp slips and a new training brochure) and then it's on to the next show's publicity material and programme. But the Easter bank holiday falls in between so at least I'll get some time to rest my brain!!

I'm off to Malvern on Tuesday for a one-off performance of a show I was recently in. 700 school children. Must be a big auditorium... I'm glad I'm wearing a mic for the most part! After suffering with whatever was going on with my tonsils/throat the last week or so, I wouldn't fancy projecting in a space that big. I know it would all end in a disastrous coughing fit!! Must remember to take plenty of water... Ah well, it'll be a nice break away from the office.

So this weekend I'm just planning on relaxing. Maybe picking up my knitting and actually trying to finish that second legwarmer. And then maybe continuing with my wig if I'm feeling really ambitious. But there's a car to be won and a bottle of wine to drink so who knows what will happen...
